What motivates you? Motivation: the big woo-hoo and to-do of the new year. Yeah, I know…we are all super fucking excited that 2020 is over. I am no exception. The year was brutal. My best friend of 20 years unexpectedly died at the beginning of the year. In February, both Uriel and I had the flu and strep at the same time. Of course, we all know about COVID. While I am so glad it did not directly touch my family, I know it could have. It also did not directly impact my business in a negative fashion. However, we dealt with a lot of personal bullshit that I won’t go into. I struggled. I struggled hard. I did not want to work…but I did. I laughed (hard) when so many people faced the work from home reality that it isn’t sunshine and roses.
The fact of the matter, though, motivation isn’t what people think.Continue reading “What Motivates You? Let’s Get Real About Motivation”
The end of 2020 is upon us (thank the fucking gods and goddesses, in no particular order). It is safe to say that 2020 was a giant shit show for the majority of us. Of course, if you kept your day job (or if you were lucky enough during the pandemic to not get laid off) while starting your freelance business, you’ll probably not shit your pants right now when it appears your clients stop talking to you and you wonder if you’ll die by New Year’s from starvation. Even experienced freelancers, regardless of their field, can get swept up in the holiday frenzy. So, if you’re a new freelancer, take heart. It can be scary as fuck. Here are some of my best tips in this freelancer’s holiday survival guide.
Yep, it’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated the blog portion of the site. It’s been quite busy on the business front. I’m not complaining. I’m generally busy working on other people’s sites and content. I still keep the work from home writing and editing jobs list updated as often as I can. I wish it were daily, but between virtual schooling, work, and, you know, my own introverted life pursuits…I do it as often as I can.Continue reading “If You Want to Work from Home, Ask Yourself the Right Questions”
